Dr. Guoan served as Director of the Orthopaedic Bioengineering Lab of Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School from 1998 to to 2017. In 2017, he established the Orthopaedic Bioengineering Research Center at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. His main research interest is in Orthopaedic Biomechanics, including degeneration/injury mechanisms of human knee/hip joints and spine and development of new treatment strategies. Recently, he has also devoted his effort to the development of new techniques for ACL reconstruction and artificial joint replacements including TKA, THA and TDR. He supervises graduate students and post-doctoral fellows from Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Boston University as well as many institutions of European and Asian countries.
